Dr Kate Brighton-Grodeck

Kate graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2012. She had wanted to be a vet since her family dog had puppies when she was in Grade 5 – she even filmed her own documentary to show her class at school! She is now the proud owner of a dopey Greyhound by the name of Polly, who used to be a blood donor.

She enjoys most aspects of veterinary medicine, but is particularly interested in animal behaviour, dermatology and surgery.

Kate’s tip for pet owners:

“Make sure you socialise young animals. Unfortunately we see too many animals euthanised due to problem behaviours, many of which are preventable.
If young animals are exposed to a wide variety of environments and experiences they are more likely to grow into well-adjusted adults. Puppy school programs are a great way of doing this.”
